The Paley Center for Media has unveiled plans to deliver an annual keynote address at the International Council Summit in New York City to honor cable industry legend John Malone as his half-century career comes to an end.
The inaugural annual keynote will feature Dr. John C. Malone Malone and Mike Fries, Chairman and CEO of Liberty Global, on stage at the 2026 International Council Summit at the Paley Museum in New York City from October 19-21, 2026, with the conference theme set as “Global Media in Focus: Power, Platforms and Perspective.”
Malone was a frequent speaker at the annual Paley Center event where he brought his extensive business experience to discuss current industry trends and disruption. He welcomed his legacy, which was marked by an annual speech in his name at the prestigious industry forum.
“The media, business and technology landscape is evolving at an unprecedented speed, creating extraordinary opportunities for how the world communicates and communicates. Having participated in the Bali International Council Summit for the past several years, I am honored to have this keynote become a permanent part of this esteemed event,” Malone said in a statement.
The annual keynote address was given by top executives from companies Malone has among his holdings, including Charter Communications, Liberty Global, Liberty Latin America, Liberty Media/F1, Live Nation, SiriusXM, Warner Bros. Discovery.
The annual keynote will pay tribute to an industry pioneer who has consistently redefined the media and communications business, Maureen J. Reidy, president and CEO of the Paley Center for Media, said in a statement.

Malone, known as the legendary Cable Cowboy, has spent more than five decades redefining the business landscape through transformational leadership, bold vision, and pioneering innovation. He remains one of the most influential architects in the media, communications, and technology sectors, helping to shape and reshape the way we live, work, and communicate, leaving an indelible impact on both business and modern life,” Reddy said.
The Paley Center has locations in New York and Los Angeles, and hosts permanent exhibitions and events related to the world of media and entertainment, including annual summits, as well as PaleyFest fan events. It also houses an extensive archive of media, including radio and television broadcasts spanning decades.
