Singer-composer Palash Muchhal faced legal trouble after canceling his wedding with Smriti Mandanna. The FIR was lodged by actor-producer Vidnayan Mani who made several allegations against him and said that Palash cheated him of Rs 40 lakh.
As per the latest update on the legal dispute, a sessions court in Sangli has rejected his anticipatory bail application in a case registered against him under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
His legal team confirmed that the decision will be appealed before a higher court.According to court documents accessed, the Sangli Sessions Court rejected Mushal’s anticipatory bail application on Friday, July 10.
Confirming the development, Muchhal’s lawyer, advocate Abhijit Desai, told HT City: “Yes, the news is true and we plan to challenge the order.”Earlier this year, Mani had told the same portal that Muchhal had cheated him of over Rs 40 lakh in connection with investment in an unreleased film. The singer was also accused of cheating on his ex-fiancée, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandanna.In response to these accusations at the time, Muchhal announced that he had initiated legal proceedings against Mane.
In a social media post, he wrote: “My lawyer Shreyansh Mithar has served a legal notice of defamation worth Rs 10 crore to Sangli resident Vidnyan Mani for his false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations made with deliberate intent to damage my reputation and character.”Mani, a resident of Sangli who is a childhood friend of Smriti Mandanna, was closely associated with the former couple. Muchhal and Mandanna were engaged and were expected to get married in Sangli in November 2025, but the wedding was eventually called off.
The two later confirmed their breakup on social media.According to Mani’s complaint, the latest incident occurred on November 22 at the toll plaza on Sangli-Ashta Road. He alleged that during the encounter, Muchhal made derogatory remarks against him on caste grounds.Following the complaint, the police registered an FIR under Section 3(1) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with Sections 351(2) and 352.According to the report, the dispute is related to an alleged financial transaction. Police said Mushal received Rs 25 lakh from Mani for a film production project. When Mani repeatedly sought to get the money back, it allegedly led to an altercation between the two, which culminated in the incident that led to the case.
