One crew member dies and three are injured after an explosion during the shooting of SJ Suryah's 'Killer' in Chennai

Trigger Warning: This article contains mention of death.A 26-year-old crew member lost his life and three others sustained injuries while filming the bomb blast sequence for SJ Suryah’s film ‘Killer’at Binny Mills in Perambur’.

The accident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday while filming an action scene.

Fatal accident while filming the movie

According to a report by India Today, the incident occurred at around 5 am when a gas cylinder used for the sequence exploded on the sets. The explosion seriously injured crew member Madhan, who was present on location during filming.He was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and doctors declared him dead.

Three crew members were injured

Apart from Madhan, three other crew members were injured in the accident. They have been identified as Dinakaran, Surya and Sakthivel. The three were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The investigation is ongoing

The report also states that the police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter. They are also examining the exact cause of the explosion and whether all required safety procedures were followed during the filming process.

Authorities are also looking into the possibility of a technical fault that may have caused the explosion.The makers of ‘Killer’ have not shared any official statement regarding the incident yet.The unfortunate incident has once again raised concerns about safety standards while filming high-stakes action scenes. Investigators are expected to submit a detailed report after completing their investigations.
