Shortly after news broke of his death at the age of 32, tributes from his friends in the music industry began pouring in on social media.According to news reports, Trey was among the six people who died when two helicopters crashed mid-flight over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was arriving from the Sao Paulo leg of his first world tour last weekend, before starting his European campaign in July.Following news of his tragic death, Melanie Martinez, who previously dated the singer, paid an emotional tribute in a social media post. “It was an absolute wreck today,” she wrote on Instagram.
It’s really hard to understand how someone with whom you shared such a defining and formative time in your life could suddenly go away. He was very dedicated to his art which I greatly admired and respected.
I think everyone who knew him will look back on those moments of laughter and joy that he so easily sparked. His laugh was so contagious and warm. His ability to lead creatively and take action while also maintaining a sense of childlike wonder and awe was so inspiring.

All my love.”Among those mourning was pop star Bebe Rexha, who expressed her shock at Oliver’s death and reflected on their personal and professional relationship. She tweeted: “I’m in shock. I was in the middle of recording my CD in NYC when I found the news about Oliver Tree.
I can’t believe it. We made a record together to be in Dirty Blonde. He was very smart. Passionate. talented. Kind. I’m very sad. May God have mercy on him.”
Kid Cudi also expressed his shock over Trey’s death. He wrote in a statement: “Damn, man. I spoke to Oliver a few weeks ago. This is heartbreaking. He is a truly amazing and beautiful human being. This shit is so bad. I am sending all my prayers and love to the families dealing with the losses.”
