Netflix has released the first trailer for a thrilling docuseries chronicling the behind-the-scenes battle to succeed media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

Dynasty: House of Murdoch is a four-part documentary detailing the battle for control of the Fox News Kingpin’s empire based on thousands of pages of documents, emails and text messages. strain It is described as providing “a comprehensive history of Rupert Murdoch’s rise while focusing on the tensions that have built up for decades between him, his chosen heir Lachlan, and Rupert’s three other adult children: James Murdoch, Elizabeth Murdoch, and Prudence MacLeod.”

From the official description: “This limited series reveals the private machinations of a family torn apart by power, politics, and the desperate desire for their father’s love. While Rupert Murdoch has spent more than 80 years building an empire that shapes governments and democracies, the series poses the ultimate question: Is the dynasty a family or a business?”

In the trailer (below), comparisons are made to HBO succession – which was itself inspired by the Murdoch family – was revealed, with one observer noting that it “reads like an episode of successionAnd that Murdoch “was not raising children, but rather raising potential successors,” in addition to the fact that “it is like a family quarrel over doping that has a huge impact on our politics and our lives.”

The documentary is directed by Liz Garbus and includes interviews with journalists who covered the family’s revealing legal battle, including… New York Times Journalists Jim Rotenberg and Jonathan Mahler, as well as former Fox News employees.

Dynasty: House of Murdoch It will premiere on Netflix on March 13.
