To promote the next edition of Christophersthe art-focused drama from director Steven Soderbergh, Neon plans a series of conversations between the film’s creators and members of the arts community.
The series will be set at Sotheby’s Breuer and WSA building in lower Manhattan, and will include Christophers Stars and filmmakers, including Michaela Coel, Ian McKellen, writer Ed Solomon and Soderbergh, along with the likes of art critic Jerry Saltz and artist and educator Ajay Kurian.
Special screenings will follow these talks on April 14 and 15 in Austin, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. Which will include discussions with local artists, art writers and experts.
The series kicks off on April 9 with “The Art of the Making of The Christophers,” a live conversation between the filmmakers and Andrew Goldstein, former head of film. Art Net NewsAbout the making of the film and how it depicts the lives of working artists.
This will be followed on April 10 by “Canvas on the Silver Screen,” featuring three consecutive conversations, beginning with a one-on-one conversation between Saltz, the Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic at New York Magazine“, and McKellen. Later, Solomon will have a conversation with Kurian about Christopher’s writing process, after which there will be a panel discussion titled “Inside the Artist’s Studio: The Real Dynamics of the Artist-Assistant Relationship,” moderated by Kurian and featuring Jamian artists Giuliano Villani, Ian Cheng, and others.
Christophers It sees the estranged relatives (Jessica Gunning and James Corden) of a famous artist (McKellen) enlist the help of a struggling artist (Cowell) to steal and complete the artist’s unfinished works. Neon received the film from the Toronto International Film Festival.
Neon The Christophers will release in New York and Los Angeles on April 10, and will expand nationwide on April 17. The full schedule of events can be found here.
