Madonna has confirmed that her autobiography project has been officially cancelled.
Over the past two years, the subject of Madonna’s autobiography has raised questions of “will she” or “won’t she.” However, the singer has now officially confirmed that despite all her efforts to revive the project, her biopic has been cancelled.
Here’s what we know about it.
Madonna’s autobiography has been cancelled
While speaking to Interview magazine, the 67-year-old iconic singer confirmed that she has officially scrapped the idea of a biopic. Pointing out concerns about the overall budget, the singer shared, “Me and Universal had a falling out regarding the budget. I’ve lived an extraordinary life. I’ve lived a huge life, so I needed a big budget. You know what I mean?”After the idea of the film was dropped, the popular OTT platform was interested in investing in the biopic as a mini-series. Reportedly, actress Julia Garner was scheduled to play the title role, but that project also failed.
The singer shared that she was told that she would have to pay a large sum to the initial studio company interested in the project if she wanted to get the biopic done.On the other hand, the idea of the series was very confusing for her. She added: “You have to meet a lot of writers and find the right director. I was like, ‘It’s good that I have another job, because I need to be creative. I need to do what I was put on this earth to do.'”She also commented, “Maybe they (the production house) didn’t believe in me. One of their first reactions was: ‘We don’t think you’ll stay in Serbia more than four days.’ I said: ‘Have you read the script? My whole life has been survival. I’m not going there for vacation.'”On the work front, while the fate of her resume remains uncertain, Madonna continued her music career with the release of “Confessions II” last month.
