Michelle Obama recently spoke candidly about her behind-the-scenes habits, which also included naming one of her favorite movies of all time. The public personality recently opened up about her daily life and other things going on in her life and career, and even dropped a surprising name when it came to discussing her favorites.

Michelle Obama talks about her favorite movie

During a recent episode of her podcast “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson,” Obama invited Will Ferrell to speak and shared some candid moments with him. Not only that, but when it came to talking about their favorite movies, Obama had a very surprising answer.

“When I tell people that Elf is my favorite movie of all time, I’m not kidding! So for this week’s imopodcasts, I was especially excited to sit down with Buddy the Elf himself, the one and only Will Ferrell,” she said in a comment on a post she made about the podcast on her Instagram account.

Moreover, she talked about “Elf” and added that it is “my favorite movie ever on the planet, the only movie I watch over and over again.

The politician also admitted that it is one of the films that always puts her in a better mood, although she does not like to re-watch films over and over again. “So whenever I want to feel better — no, literally — then I have other people watch it with me so I can say, ‘Wait, here it comes,'” she concluded.

As for Ferrell, he was very happy to hear that, and later got candid about landing the role. The actor even revealed that “Elf” was one of the reasons he left “Saturday Night Live.” He added more knowingly about this: “I left, I was there for seven years, and you know, you always, you know you have to leave at some point, and I felt like I had enough momentum, but it’s not like I had a bunch of scripts waiting for me.

He further stated that the film put in a lot of work but was a huge success. “It was a great concept, but it needed a lot of work. So we rewrote the whole thing, but it’s interesting to have it become what it has become now… I had no idea we had such lightning in a bottle, but we did it.”

“Goblin” plot

The 2003 holiday film, starring Will Ferrell in the lead role, follows the life of Buddy, a human who was adopted by elves at the North Pole and resided and raised there. However, as he grows up, he discovers the truth and sets out on a journey to find his biological father in New York City.
