Fashion designer Michaela Erlanger has been working with Meryl Streep for more than a decade, and their partnership began when the actress was promoting the 2015 musical comedy. Ricky and Flash — but it’s their latest collaboration that takes Streep to a whole new level of dressing. As released The devil wears prada 2 As the film approaches, Streep and co-star Anne Hathaway will embark on a global press tour, requiring Erlanger to put together dozens of looks for appearances from Mexico City to Tokyo and beyond. And every look must be sexy enough to suit Miranda Priestly (b Runway magazine).
“There’s a real sense of play on this tour, but we’re not recreating the past, we’re evolving it,” Erlanger says. “We sew in distinctive gestures [to the film] In a way that seems loud and unexpected.
Here, Erlanger shares her exclusive behind-the-scenes look TDWP2 Design diaries, including a favorite look, a custom design by Dolce & Gabbana. “We wanted something that felt cinematic while still being rooted in who Meryl is today: easy, confident, and completely in control,” she says.
The designer also offers a message to fans ahead of the rest of the tour: “I will definitely gird your loins. There are a few moments coming that fashion people — and movie fans alike — will instantly recognize.”
