Matthew Perry's 'Friends' scripts, Banksy's artwork and his possessions will be auctioned for charity

From Banksy artwork to scripts for the hit TV series Friends, dozens of Matthew Perry’s personal items are up for auction in the US.Perry, who played the neurotic and sarcastic Chandler Bing, died in 2023 at the age of 54 after decades of battling addiction.

Now, the executors of his estate have put about 130 items up for auction, including his favorite watch and childhood memorabilia, to raise money for the Matthew Perry Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping people struggling with addiction.“It’s a mixture of all kinds of things from the actor’s life,” said Roberta Kramer of Heritage Auctions, which is handling the sale.“Stuff related to his work on Friends and other TV shows and movies, but there’s a lot of very personal stuff as well, from childhood to adulthood.”

The auction is expected to bring in $1 million

Items include Perry’s prized Memorigin watch bearing the Batman logo, as well as artwork he collected during his lifetime, including “Girl with Balloon” and “Nola” by street artist Banksy, which is expected to fetch around US$1 million.There are also a number of scripts from the decade of “Friends,” a series about six young people navigating adulthood, relationships and careers in New York that made Perry and his co-stars millionaires and household names.

Kramer said Perry created the foundation with the goal of using his “fame and life experience with substance abuse to help others.”“We know he will be happy that all of his items went to help the foundation’s mission.”

About the death of Matthew Perry

Six people have been convicted in connection with Perry’s ketamine overdose death.Five of them have already been sentenced, including a woman nicknamed the “Ketamine Queen” and a self-proclaimed trafficker to the stars. A sixth person is expected to be sentenced next week.The auction will be held in Dallas and online on June 5.
