Mammootty, R Madhavan, Satish Shah are among the film personalities who will receive Padma awards from President Draupadi Murmu on June 23

The second Padma Awards civil award ceremony of the year will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, where President Draupadi Murmu will confer the country’s most prestigious civilian awards on 65 distinguished personalities.The ceremony comes after the first inauguration ceremony held last month, during which 66 winners were honored. With a total of 131 Padma Awards approved this year, the remaining winners will receive their awards in the second phase of the celebrations.

131 Padma Awards were approved this year

The Padma Awards, announced annually on Republic Day, are among India’s highest civilian honours. This year, the President approved 131 awards, including five Padma Vibhushan awards, 13 Padma Bhushan awards, and 113 Padma Shri awards.The awards honor exceptional contributions in various fields, including the arts, literature, education, social work, medicine, public affairs, sports, science, engineering, commerce, industry and the civil service.

Mammootty To receive Padma Bhushan

One of the most prominent names in the entertainment industry who will be honored on June 23 is Mammootty, who has been chosen for Padma Bhushan.Mammootty, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, appeared in more than 400 films in multiple languages ​​over a career spanning five decades.

The Malayalam star is widely considered one of India’s best actors and is also known for his charitable initiatives and support for social causes.

R Madhavan To be honored with the Padma Shri

Actor and film director R Madhavan will be awarded the Padma Shri.Madhavan, popularly known as Maddy, has had a successful career in television and films. Over the years, he has appeared in more than 1,200 television episodes and around 75 films in Hindi, Tamil and other languages.

Apart from acting, he has also ventured into the field of agriculture, including organic hydroponics in Mumbai and maintaining a coconut farm in Tamil Nadu.

Satish Shah Rajendra Prasad is among the other recipients

Veteran actor Satish Shah is also set to receive the Padma Shri. Known for his work in theatre, television and films, Shah has entertained audiences for more than four decades and remains one of the country’s most beloved comedians.Joining him on the honors list is Telugu cinema veteran Rajendra Prasad, who has also been shortlisted for the Padma Shri. With a career spanning over 40 years, Rajendra Prasad has acted in over 286 films in six languages, and is also known for his charitable and humanitarian work.The June 23 ceremony will complement this year’s Padma Awards, honoring some of the country’s most accomplished personalities across various disciplines.
