Lionsgate has acquired foreign television rights to the Spanish-language feature film Belleza, Starring Mexican singer and actress Maite Perrone.
Outside cable and broadcast rights deal for Belleza Outside of the US market it was made with Paul Pressburger’s Miercoles Entertainment, which has a film slate deal with Lionsgate and is part of the consortium behind the Hollywood studio’s long-running Pantelion and Pantaya projects.
“Lionsgate is an exceptional long-term partner with global distribution prowess and dedicated relationships across the television landscape. We are thrilled to continue this relationship with Miercoles and launch our slate with Belleza“It is a film with a strong local voice and an outstanding cast led by Maite Perrone,” Pressburger said in a statement.
Presburger and Lionsgate are behind Pantelion Films, the former Lionsgate/Televisa joint venture focused on Spanish-language films, streaming platform Pantaya, and global IP consortium Globalgate. Belleza, A female-led, multi-generational drama and comedy, produced by BH5 Studios and Miercoles as a co-production with Secuoya Studios.
Perrone had a prominent role in a 2004 Mexican telenovela rebelde, Which was followed by the launch of her rock group RBD and roles in Netflix’s streaming TV series Dark desire and Triada (trilogy). Belleza Also stars Fernanda Castillo, Claudette Mel, Diego Klein, Arab Bethke, Antonia Giraldo, Joana Murillo, Sabina Furuzawa, Sebastian García Huerta, Monica Dion and Arturo Ríos.
The distribution agreement will see Lionsgate handle its sales Belleza Across the studio’s SVOD, AVOD, cable, foreign express and international channels. Cinepolis will be released Belleza, Which was filmed in Colombia, and theatrically in Mexico.
