On Maharashtra Day, celebrated on May 1, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar shared a heartfelt tribute to the state he considers home, expressing gratitude, pride and a deep personal connection to Maharashtra and its people.

Akshay Kumar, who is currently hosting the reality quiz show ‘Wheel of Fortune’, opened up about what Maharashtra means to him. Commenting on his experience on the show, the actor said, “Hosting Wheel of Fortune has given me the opportunity to meet people from all over Maharashtra, each with their own hopes and determination. Maharashtra has truly been my karma bhoomi (Maharashtra is the land where I perform my duties), and I feel grateful for everything it has given me.”

Akshay Kumar was born into a Punjabi family and has been residing in Maharashtra for more than three decades. He speaks fluent Marathi and is often seen speaking naturally in the language, which reflects how deeply he embraces the state as his own.
Over the years, Akshay has spoken candidly about his humble beginnings in Mumbai and how hard work, determination and resilience helped him rise from humble means to owning multiple homes in the city.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in the film Bhooth Bangla, alongside Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamika Gabbi, Jisshu Sengupta, and late veteran actor Asrani. The film was released on April 17, 2026, and has crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide at the box office. He is now gearing up for his next big release, Welcome to the Jungle, which features a large ensemble cast and has generated huge excitement among fans.
