Netflix has set a premiere date for its reboot Little house on the meadow — and making sure there will be at least one more season with the Ingalls family.
The carrier has ordered a second season of The little houseseveral months before the show’s debut. The series based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved novels will premiere on July 9.
“I am so grateful to our amazing cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come to life,” showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine said in a statement. “We can’t wait to share this new edit of The little house “Books are with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”
The new series will retrace the steps of the Ingalls family as told in Wilder’s semi-autobiographical books. The series stars Alice Halsey as Laura, Skywalker Hughes as Laura’s older sister Mary, and Luke Bracey and Crosby Fitzgerald as Pa and Ma Ingalls.

The original Little house on the meadow The series ran for nine seasons (1974-1983) and 200 episodes on NBC and was followed by several television movies. Melissa Gilbert, Michael Landon, Karen Grassle, and Melissa Sue Anderson lead the cast.
Netflix describes Little House as “part hopeful family drama, part epic survival story, and part origin story of the American West” that will give “a shifting look at the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”
CBS Studios and Anonymous Content produce Little house on the meadow. Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Vampire Diaries) executive produces with Joy Gorman Wettels for the Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel. Sarah Adena Smith, Julie Anne Robinson, Kat Candler, Erica Tremblay, and Sidney Vreeland are the directors of the first season.
