LandmanTaylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ drama about people in the oil business in and around West Texas, has successfully submitted its Emmys submissions for a second season. Hollywood Reporter I’ve learned.

The series’ first season was scandalously snubbed by the Television Academy, but its second season had other major awards collections — it received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Ensemble Actor, as well as Outstanding Drama Actor for star Billy Bob Thornton — and the cast has been a hit on the campaign trail in recent weeks, suggesting that submissions in its category could have big implications for the Emmys.

Of course, Thornton, who plays tough lead character Tommy Norris, will be up for Best Actor in a Drama Series. But unlike last year, when Ali Larter, who plays Norris’ irrepressible wife Angela, also campaigned as the lead, this year Larter — and everyone else in the cast — will come out in support.

That includes veterans Demi Moore, for her portrayal of Widow Cami, Norris’ best friend turned boss; Sam Elliott, who wasn’t part of the first season but came on to play Norris’ father, TL; And Andy Garcia, who was only eligible as a guest actor last season, will play Galeno, Norris’ shady business partner.

Supporting contenders also include a host of breakouts from the show, including Michelle Randolph and Jacob Lofland, who play the bickering Norris children, Ainsley and Cooper; Paulina Chavez, who does an outstanding job as Loveland’s love interest, Ariana; And Kayla Wallace, who is unforgettable as Norris’ icy lawyer, Rebecca.

Longer takes from the cast include Colm Feore and James Jordan as Norris’s classmates and housemates, Nathan and Dale; and Mark Cooley as the local town mayor, Walt.

On April 16, the Television Academy in North Hollywood was packed to capacity for the showing of the Season 2 finale — which looked especially stunning on a big screen — followed by an impressive Q&A and reception with Thornton, Larter, Elliott, Moore, Randolph, Loveland, and Chavez. Then, on April 22, Paramount+ hosted a hot event in New York called “Icons of Taylor Sheridan’s World,” which featured Larter and Randolph alongside actresses from two other successful Sheridan films, Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Sheridan’s Zoe Saldaña. Lioness And Beau Garrett of Madison – Not a bad company.
