Labrinth, the artist behind Ecstasy popular soundtrack hit, posted a cryptic message on social media late Thursday, expressing his frustration with his record label Columbia as well as the show itself, saying he was done with the entertainment industry.
“I’m done with this industry. Fuck Colombia [Records]. Double curse trance“,” Labrinth wrote on Instagram. “I’m out. Thank you and good evening x.”
Labrinth worked on the music for Ecstasy seasons one and two and helped build the show’s moody, soulful vocal profile with tracks like “Forever,” “Still Don’t Know My Name,” and “I Never Feelt So Alone,” the latter of which featured Billie Eilish and earned her a Grammy nomination. He released his fourth album titled Cosmic Opera: Act Oneearlier this year.
Labrinth was expected to return for the upcoming, long-awaited third season, but it’s unclear where he’ll be working in the new season. Last year, it was also confirmed that Hans Zimmer would serve as a composer for the third season to collaborate with.
“LaBrinth’s music has shaped the identity of the show and I look forward to contributing to the ongoing story and helping to shape this new season through music,” Zimmer said at the time.
Labrinth has already received support on social media. As singer Kesha commented: “Take care of your peace, baby. You are loved and supported.”
Columbia Records declined to comment. THR It has arrived trance Showrunner Sam Levinson on commentary.
