Kriti Sanon talks about nepotism and losing out on roles to child stars: 'I've earned all the opportunities;

Kriti Sanon spoke about her struggles as an outsider in Bollywood and revealed that the roles she almost got went to star children. The actress admitted that the phase where “nothing was working” eventually helped her grow. She now has the film ‘Cocktail 2’ with Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna releasing on June 19.

Kriti Sanon spoke candidly about the difficulties and self-doubt she faced while making her mark in Bollywood as an outsider without support from the industry. Amid ongoing conversations about nepotism and unequal opportunities in Hindi cinema, the actress looked back on the difficult phase she went through before breakthrough projects like ‘Mimi’ brought her critical acclaim and box office appreciation.

Kriti Sanon talks about fighting for a place in Bollywood

Speaking to GQ, Kriti spoke about the early days of her career, admitting that the journey to where she stands today has not been easy at all. While she’s now known for her strong screen presence and string of successful films, getting there required patience through some very frustrating times. Speaking about how it feels to navigate the industry without any gummy roots, Kriti said, “Before Mimi, I went through phases of frustration… I wanted to do more – knowing that I was capable of doing more, but I lacked opportunities.

There were roles that I came very close to that eventually went to child stars, which was beyond my control. When you’re not coming from a film background, there’s a lot of uncertainty you have to deal with. It’s been a process of gradual growth, as I’ve taken risks and made more intentional choices. I’ve earned every opportunity. “Nothing was handed to me.”

Kriti also spoke about a time in her career when things were not going well.

Several films did not perform as well as she had hoped, and she admitted that some of her decisions were wrong, leaving her feeling professionally lost during a period when, as she put it, “nothing was working.” But instead of seeing those years as a waste, she said they helped her figure out what kind of films and roles she actually wanted.

Kriti Sanon talks about failure as her biggest teacher

When talking about failure, Kriti keeps it real. She said that her setbacks taught her more than her successes ever taught her. Those difficult times forced her to stop, think, and come back with a clearer mind. The actress felt that she truly developed as an actress during those low stages, becoming more aware, more careful in her choices and more confident in her identity as an actress.
