King Charles is said to be keen to ensure the safe return of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children to the UK amid ongoing efforts to repair family ties.
According to the latest reports, King Charles will personally intervene to help facilitate security arrangements for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. The couple is scheduled to travel to Britain next month with their two children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, in their first joint family visit in four years.According to The Sun, King Charles could cover the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s additional security costs during their stay. Harry and Meghan will attend a one-year countdown celebration to the Invictus Games in Birmingham, a cause closely linked to Harry’s military service and his pioneering charitable endeavours.
Security arrangements for the visit
The Home Office allegedly agreed to round-the-clock armed police protection funded by taxpayers for the duration of their stay.
Despite ongoing reviews of potential threats facing the couple, the government’s Royal and VIP Executive Committee has not changed its security assessment.A government spokesperson spoke about safeguarding arrangements: “It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information about those arrangements, as doing so could jeopardize their safety and impact the security of individuals.”The unchanged threat level suggests that a “safe return” could stem from additional royal support rather than any reassessment of risks.
Harry lost a legal challenge against the Home Office last year after the department downgraded his security status after he left royal duties. Harry then insisted that bringing Meghan and the children to the UK without this protection would be unsafe.
Meghan Markle returns to Britain
Meghan has not visited the country for nearly four years, and her last appearance was at the late Queen’s funeral. The family’s trip to Britain comes as Harry and his father continue their efforts to mend their fractured relationship.
Last September, the pair met at Clarence House during one of the Duke’s charity visits, their first face-to-face meeting in 18 months. Although the meeting was short, it raised optimism about the possibility of achieving reconciliation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to travel to Britain with their children Archie and Lilibet, in what could be the family’s first joint visit to the UK in four years.
King Charles and his descendants
Since moving to America, the King has met his grandchildren on only one occasion. Archie spent his first year in Britain while Lilibet was born in California after her parents moved across the Atlantic. The young princess has only visited the UK once, when she celebrated her first birthday at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor in 2022.King Charles’ financial support, if indeed this is the case, is a major step towards reconciliation with his estranged son, and may help restore more meaningful family ties during a crucial period of reconciliation.
