Kevin Bacon is set to star Summonera horror thriller from Amazon MGM featuring longtime genre writer Jeremy Slater Mortal Kombat II and Umbrella AcademyHe will make his debut as a director.
Horror director Andy Muschietti along with Barbara Muschietti and Russell Ackerman will produce via their Nocturna banner. Nocturna was behind the horror film They will kill you Released by Warner Bros. In March
The screenplay, written by Slater, follows an exorcist named Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), who is summoned to an isolated witness protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, and accidentally unleashes a force that threatens to destroy him and everything around him.

Slater is one of the boldest screenwriter names when it comes to geeky genre material in both film and television. One of Josh Trank’s writers fantastic four, Slater holds creator credits at Marvel Studios Moon Knight And Fox The exorcist Besides Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. He was the co-creator of the long-running superhero series on Netflix Umbrella Academybased on the Dark Horse comic, and worked on it Kombat IIwhich opened in May.
Summoner is one of the rare breakout roles for Bacon who, over the past several years, has made a habit of stealing roles and anchoring films with his presence. He appeared in a prestigious mini-series Sirens It topped the Amazon Prime Video series The bond. He and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, recently directed and starred in the horror-comedy project Family movie Along with their children Travis Bacon and Susie Bacon.
Bacon is repped by MGMT and Johnson Shapiro. Slater is repped by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone and McQueen Frankel.
