'Kartavya' Trailer: Saif Ali Khan plays a 'Mahadev ka bhakt' cop torn between professional duty and family safety

Shah Rukh Khan’s Kartavya stars Saif Ali Khan, who plays a cop who comes under pressure after a journalist is shot while under his care. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Kartavya’, helmed by Saif Ali Khan, will be streamed on OTT from May 15, 2026. Recently, the makers of the film unveiled the trailer at an event in Mumbai on Thursday and received a positive response from the audience.

“Cartavia” plot and central conflict

The trailer shows a story in which duty, power and personal issues are closely linked. Saif plays Pawan Malik, a police officer who is under pressure after a journalist is shot while under his care. As he is interrogated by senior officials, he is drawn into a dangerous manhunt that uncovers a web of lies and influence. Meanwhile, his family faces threats due to a problem related to his brother, which increases his suffering.

The trailer highlights a tense narrative where the protagonist, a devout ‘Mahadev ka bhakt’, must navigate a web of political influence and personal betrayal, forcing him to choose between his professional oath and the safety of his family.

According to ANI, Saif talked about the film and said, “Pawan is a man who is constantly negotiating with himself, between what he believes is right, what is expected of him, and what he must protect.

What attracted me to Cartavia is that it doesn’t offer easy answers; It puts you in uncomfortable places and forces you to question what you’ll do when every choice comes with a personal cost. Working with Pulkit and the entire crew made this journey even more compelling and exciting.

It was especially exciting to collaborate with Red Chillies Entertainment for the first time on a multi-layered project like Kartavya.
