Sphere has appointed a new global head of corporate marketing and communications in Karen Laureano-Rikkardsen.

The move, announced today by Sphere Entertainment Co., will see the veteran executive serve as a spokesperson for the cutting-edge entertainment venue while leading the “development and implementation of a global marketing communications strategy to support the company’s growth, reputation and domestic and international expansion,” according to the company. She is based in New York and reports to Sphere President and COO Jennifer Koester.

“As we continue to expand Sphere’s presence and bring our next-generation immersive entertainment experiences to audiences around the world, it is critical that we continue to tell our story in compelling and impactful ways,” Koester said. “Karen brings a strong blend of global communications experience, sound judgment, and proven leadership in high-level environments. She will play a vital role in shaping how we communicate our vision and innovation.”

“Throughout my career, I have worked with global organizations to enhance corporate reputation and develop communications strategies that drive business growth and meaningful engagement with audiences,” Laureano-Rikkardsen added. “Sphere is a unique company operating at the intersection of technology, storytelling and live entertainment, and I look forward to working alongside the talented team of creatives, engineers, technologists and business leaders to help fuel the company’s continued expansion.”

Laureano-Rikkardsen’s resume includes nine years at financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald where she served as head of communications and marketing for the parent company and publicly traded subsidiaries BGC Group and Newmark Group. The University of Maryland graduate has also held senior executive communications and marketing positions at financial and public relations firms such as Credit Suisse, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and Hill & Knowlton.

The Sphere calendar currently features the Backstreet Boys and Wizard of Oz With performances coming from Karen Lyon, The Eagles and Metallica.
