‘Karakkam’ OTT Release Confirmed: When and Where to Watch Director Sreenath Bhasi’s Horror-Comedy

Sreenath Bhasi’s latest film ‘Karakkam’ blends horror, comedy and music and was released in theaters on May 28 this year. The film has received mixed reviews from the audience and is now gearing up for its online release. The film is directed by Subhash Lalitha Subramanian. The screenplay has been written by Subhash Lalitha Subramanian along with Nibin Narayanan and Arjun Narayanan, based on the story by Dhanush Varghese. Sam CS composed the songs and background score.

Where to broadcast the series “Karakkam”

The makers have officially announced the digital platform for the film. “Karakkam” will air on Sony LIV in July 2026. “Get ready for a one-of-a-kind ride,” Sony LIV wrote while sharing the update.

horror. comedy. music. All in one. #Karakkam will be broadcast in July only on Sony LIV.”

A story that begins with one reckless mistake

The film follows Dhanush, played by Sreenath Bhasi, and his friend Khaja, portrayed by Praveen TJ. The pair get into serious trouble after a drunken brawl in their hostel. Their misadventure takes them to a cemetery, where they remove crosses from five graves without understanding the consequences.Their reckless action awakens five spirits, and as ghosts begin to haunt them, the two young men struggle to escape the nightmare while dealing with fear, humor, and a series of unexpected situations.

Director Subhash Lalitha Subramanian is trying to give a new twist to the horror-comedy genre with Karakkam.

ETimes praises the visual style of the film

ETimes’ exclusive review said, “One of the most interesting aspects of Karakkam is the way it presents ghosts. These are not the usual white-clad Malayalam cinema ghosts, silently appearing in dark corners or moving across the frame in a predictable manner. Here, the ghosts belong to an earlier period, and are visualized through a more colorful and performative style.”

Because they are connected to an earlier world of bar dancers and the energy of rock stars, music and performance, their costumes and body language reflect that as well.

The costumes, dancing, and exaggerated stage presence give the supernatural parts a new visual identity. This makes the film feel different from the standard horror-comedy template, even when the writing around it isn’t as innovative. The cast includes Srinath Bassi as Dhanush and Femina George as Pinky. Praveen TJ, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Shaun Romy, Manikandan R. Achari and Sidharth Bharathan also play important characters.
