French authorities are looking for official ways to ban Kanye West

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez is exploring legal options to formally ban the American rapper from performing a concert in June in Marseille, his office confirmed to Agence France-Presse on Tuesday. Marseille Mayor Benoît Payen also made clear his position on potentially welcoming West in a social media post.

“I refuse to allow Marseille to be a front for those who promote hate and blatant Nazism,” he wrote in a statement on March 4. “Kanye West is not welcome at the Velodrome, our temple of living together and for all the people of Marseille.”

The controversy extends beyond France

West was recently banned from headlining the Wireless Festival after submitting a travel application to the UK Home Office which was rejected. Festival organizers confirmed the fallout, saying: “As a result of Ye being banned from entering the UK by the Home Office, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel.

All ticket holders will automatically receive a full refund.Before his travel request was rejected, news of Ye’s performance at the Wireless Festival led to Pepsi and Diageo withdrawing their sponsorship of the event after West was announced as the Wireless Festival’s headliner.Meanwhile, the rapper remains active as he recently released his new studio album “Bully,” which features collaborations with Travis Scott, CeeLo Green, Peso Pluma, and Andre Troutman.
