Kannada Actor Doddana Mobilizes Cyber Crime Police Over Death Hoax; The investigation was initiated under the Information Technology Act
Veteran Kannada actor Doddana contacted cybercrime authorities after a false social media post wrongly claimed that he had died. According to the complaint, the misleading content appeared online and was shared widely within a short period of time.
This caused concern among well-wishers who initially believed the information.
The actor later clarified that the post was completely fabricated and was allegedly created using digital tools, including AI-based manipulation, before being distributed further.As Money Control reported, following the complaint filed on June 15, Dodana contacted the Northern Division Cybercrime Police Station. The police registered a case under relevant sections of the IT Act.
The investigation is currently focused on tracking down the unidentified individuals responsible for creating and spreading false information.
Dodana raises concerns
Dodana expressed serious concern about the emotional distress caused by the incident. He stated in a video message that the situation left him very upset. He also urged the authorities to take strict action against those responsible for circulating such misleading information. The actor also appealed to the public to avoid sharing unverified content.
An actor releases an explanatory video about his health condition
Dodana released a video statement confirming its authenticity. In the message, he explained the situation by saying, “Before I woke up in the morning, some irresponsible people spread the news of my death. This is a complete lie. I am healthy and well,” and also thanked fans for their concern and support.He further stated that he received several calls from friends and well-wishers who were concerned after seeing the post.Doddanna appeared in more than 800 films and most of them were Kannada films. He made his debut in the film Koodi Balidare Swarga Sukha in 1981 and his latest films are Raktha Kashmira, Karataka Damanaka and Kotigobba 3.
