While speaking at the launch, Kamal Haasan spoke about his decades-long friendship with Rajinikanth and the journey that finally led to ‘Dharman’. As reported by Cinema Express, the actor-producer thanked fans for their continued support and said they have played a major role in sustaining his career over the years. Kamal revealed that they once thought about stopping films together because they received many joint offers. In that conversation, they brainstormed a new idea. “We decided that one day one of us should make a film for the other,” he recalls. Although the plan remained unrealized for nearly 40 years, the dream has now become a reality.
Kamal Haasan said that after reopening the RKFI office, he discussed the idea again with Rajinikanth, which led to the birth of ‘Dharman’ and another upcoming collaboration, ‘KHxRK’.

The actor also spoke proudly about how far they have come together. “These two young men, who once sat under the neem tree in the AVM studio, have come all this way,” he said emotionally. Kamal credited the fans for their success and added that none of them imagined reaching such heights. He also joked about Rajinikanth’s enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Usually the producer runs while the hero relaxes. Here, Rajinikanth didn’t let anyone sleep.”
