Glen Powell is set to take center stage in a new comedy directed by Judd Apatow.
Universal Pictures announced Monday that the previously untitled feature has been named King of comeback. The film hits theaters on February 5, 2027, and features Powell as a country-western star in free fall.
Cristin Milioti, Madeleine Klein, Stavros Halkias, and Lee Jin Hao round out the cast. Apatow is directing the film from a script he wrote with Powell.
Powell took to Instagram to share the image revealing the title and added the caption, “Flip it over. February 2027.”
Apatow is producing for Apatow Productions through her long-term overall deal with the studio, while Powell and Dan Cohen are producing for Barnstorm through a first-look deal with Universal signed last year. Former President of Global Production Kevin Misher also produces for Misher Films. Barry Mendel and Josh Church will executive produce.
Powell’s relationship with Universal began in 2024 HurricanesThe natural disaster film surpassed $267 million at the domestic box office. The actor voices Fox McCloud in the current Universal animated film Super Mario Galaxy moviealong with a voice cast that includes Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The star’s other recent credits include features How to do the killing and Running manPlus, he’ll return as the lead in Hulu’s upcoming second season Chad Powers.
Apatow’s previous feature credits as director include the 2022 Netflix film Bubblealong with Universal titles such as King of Staten Island, I knocked and 40 year old virgin.
