Seth Rogen went Greek on Wednesday night, taking over Los Angeles’ iconic Greek Theater for a star-studded joke show on Netflix to benefit his organization Hilarity for Charity.
Rogen served as host for the “Seth Goes Greek” evening, leading a lineup that included performances from Jon Stewart, Nick Kroll, Eric Andre, Sarah Silverman, Nikki Glaser, Josh Gad, Michael Bublé, Busta Rhymes, and magician Justin Willman. studio The star kicked things off as he took to the stage via trolley, musing that the week-long Netflix comedy festival – which features hundreds of shows across the city – was “a very weird festival” where even Jelly Roll has a comedy show.
He teased that Kanye West was also performing as part of the festival, before revealing his thoughts on the rapper’s recent sold-out shows in Los Angeles. “He had a song called ‘Heil Hitler’ and he’s back. The funny thing is, I said critical things about Jewish people, and I think I’ve gotten into more trouble than Kanye West has,” Rogen said. “I’ve gotten into a lot of crap for what I’ve said. I don’t have number one albums.” He continued: “Sometimes I think what Adolf Hitler would think of Kanye West’s song ‘Heil Hitler.’ “I bet it would tear up.”
Later in the night, Stewart also addressed West’s comeback during his brief on anti-Semitism, as he reflected on how “fucking Kanye thinks we screwed up his Adidas deal.” He continued, “But seriously, fuck this guy. He was saying, ‘Hitler, we’ve been misunderstood, and we have to forgive Hitler.’ And I don’t think I need to listen to anyone who thinks Hitler needs to be forgiven but is still angry at Pete Davidson, with whom he clashed when the comedian was dating his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.”
Elsewhere in his set, Stewart began roasting RFK Jr. before questioning whether the crowd was made up of MAHA supporters, saying: “I don’t know how bad L.A. is. I know you’re such a loser. I know you had a fire and a mudslide and I was like, no, fuck it. Let’s let the guy out.” Hills Fix it. “So I assume you’ve given up,” he said, referring to Spencer Pratt’s current bid for mayor of Los Angeles. “How are you going to elect someone from,” he joked Hills And it wouldn’t be Lauren [Conrad]Come here.”
As a plane flew overhead while he mocked Trump, Stewart joked with the Secret Service, shouting: “Tell them Kimmel’s house is over there! This has nothing to do with me. I’m on regular cable. I’m calling Trump.” [Trump] He doesn’t even get fired.”
Silverman poked fun at RFK Jr. during her set as well, reading aloud the poem he wrote to reporter Olivia Nuzzi during their romance. “I couldn’t make this up, it’s so disgusting, but I feel like it should have an audience here,” she said. “And I don’t want to shame anyone but have sex with this guy. He brought back the measles.”
During Kroll’s time on stage, he mirrored the portrayal of comedy Bring it to Greek In the theater, alongside “Jonah Hill, the wonderful Russell Brand, and of course Diddy, and a number of other alleged sexual pests.” He recalled a moment during rehearsal when fireworks exploded while Brand was on stage, saying, “And I swear to God, unfortunately, nothing happened to Russell.”
The entire night was in support of Hilarity for Charity, Rogen and his wife Lauren’s non-profit that cares for families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Rogen gave a similar presentation at the 2024 Netflix Festival, joking with the audience, “The way I put these shows together, you know, is I kind of think about the people that I would personally like to watch in an evening, and then I reach out to those people and ask them if they would do the show and then you get to watch that based on what I want.”
That programming saw Bublé singing dressed as a giant QR code (during the donation portion of the evening), Wellman performing a Houdini-inspired magic act and Busta Rhymes closing out the night with a series of his own songs.
