HBO found the first link at Series.
Killing Eve Jodie Comer will play a major role in director Damon Lindelof’s thriller. Her character, Rachel, is described as a suburban mother “who must contemplate the unthinkable when her daughter is kidnapped.”
HBO ordered the series in January as the first project resulting from a two-year overall deal Lindelof signed with the outlet last year. Series The film is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Adrian McEntee, which details a kidnapping scheme in which the parents of an abductor must kidnap another child to secure their child’s release. Lindelof is said to expand on the book’s mythology.
“From the moment I heard the wild and original premise of Adrian’s book, I was shocked, surprised and angry that I hadn’t thought of it myself,” Lindelof said when the series was announced. “I’ve always wanted to try to adapt a great thriller, and this one has all the dark, weird and delightful touches that spark my imagination.”
Comer won an Emmy Award in 2019 for his role as killer Villanelle in the first season of the BBC America show. Killing Eve. Comer is repped by Independent Talent Group and WME.
Lindelof, Carly Rae, and Brianna Gibson share pilot story credit for Serieswith Lindelof and Ray writing the pilot script. Lindelof will serve as showrunner and executive produce with Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer Media Race, the studio co-series, Shane Salerno, Gibson and Joe Iberti. Machinety is a joint EP.
