‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ have been in the news for several reasons. Since the first part was released in December 2025, it has not only smashed box office records, but the film has also become a talking point on social media with viral memes, theories, and clips.
The second part, which was released on March 19 of this year, broke all records for the first part. Amidst all these numbers, praise and love, the film has also been criticized with many calling it ‘propaganda’. Now veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar has responded to calling it a propaganda franchise. Akhtar was seen in the city where he was honored with a special award from a jewelery company. During the event, while interacting with the media, he was asked about calling ‘Dhurandhar’ propaganda.
As reported by PTI, Akhtar responded and said, “I don’t know what you mean by trailers. I loved Dhurandhar; it was an excellent film. I liked the first one more than the second one.”He went on to say: “Every story has a position, but does it become propaganda because the narrative does not suit a group of audience? Everyone has the right to spread their ideas. What is wrong with propaganda films? The mission of every director is to present the truth.”
He went on to explain that every novel, even those rooted in fiction, carries a certain ideology beneath the surface. Therefore, films inevitably convey a message or moral, which the audience may interpret in different ways or classify according to their own views. “Dhurandhar” features an ensemble cast that includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan,
Sarah Arjun
