Actor Imran Khan joined the students’ protest in Mumbai on Wednesday, expressing his solidarity with the young students and protesters. The actor was seen participating in the peaceful rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar and walking alongside the young crowd amid pouring rain.
Videos and photos showing his appearance at the march are now spreading on social media.Imran’s participation comes just days after his superstar uncle, Aamir Khan, made headlines after he stated that he did not know activist Sonam Wangchuk during a media interaction at the British Film Institute in London.

Videos circulating online show Imran walking alongside the students at the protest, where he interacted with the protesters, took selfies and extended his support to their cause.
Speaking to Beetroot during the protest, Imran explained why he chose to participate. “I am here to show support and solidarity with all the students whose work has been affected.”Condemning the use of force against student demonstrators, he added, “This violence has absolutely no place in civil public discourse, and the state’s actions in this particular case speak volumes. When you have demonstrators in schools, raising legitimate and valid concerns about officials, violence is completely unacceptable.”
Imran Khan condemns Police work Against students
A day before attending the Mumbai protests, Imran shared a strongly worded post on Instagram in response to reports of police action against protesting students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. “Something broke inside me today,” he wrote in his post. “When I watch police gassing and beating student protesters…how can I understand this? These students who worked hard, but were let down by the system. These people who asked to be heard, only to be met with silence.”
“Those citizens who stood up to show what mattered to them…were beaten and disowned by the establishment.”
He also questioned the treatment of the protesters, writing: “Aren’t these the children of Mother India? If not them, who are we building for, and whose futures are we claiming to protect? Those who demand that students protesting education reform ‘organise’, but do not apply such noble standards of accountability to the powers that be; shoe-lickers, all of them.”
Aamir Khan denies knowing Sonam
Aamir Khan was in the news recently after his appearance at the British Film Institute in London. During a Q&A session with the audience, the actor was asked about the long-held belief that his famous ‘3 Idiots’ character, Phunsukh Wangdu, was based on Ladakh-based innovator Wangchuk.Amer said in the clip that went viral: “No! This is not actually true. This is the wrong understanding.” He continued, explaining, “I didn’t know anything about Sonam sir at that time when we were shooting for ‘3 Idiots’.
I know I watched a video of Chatur recently, and he was like, “No, he’s wrong.” Maybe that’s what Chatur was thinking, but I want to tell you that neither director Rajkumar Hirani nor writer Abhijat Joshi nor I… knew anything about Sonam sir.
