Hulu has ordered a comedy pilot about a disgraced reality star unstable and Workaholics writer-producer Sean Clements and veteran comedian Paul Sims.
The project is called Lexcomes from 20th Television, with Clements and Sims executive producing. It’s the second pilot order Hulu made on Wednesday. The Disney-owned streaming company has also ordered a drama called Durango from J: The last man and Animal kingdom Showrunner Eliza Clark.
LexThe title character is a former reality star who, according to the show’s tagline, “accidentally films a murder in the background of a $20 Cameo video. He finds himself at the center of a global conspiracy — and on the run from powerful forces that want him dead. Using the skills he’s acquired in navigating the toxic social dynamics of reality TV, Lex must fight to not get killed, to uncover the truth, and, most importantly, to get back on television.”
The project joins a slate of comedies in development at Hulu that includes: 1266 From Onyx Group, Chinese League From the writer Charlie Hall, Group chat Starring La La Anthony and Last look From Taika Waititi, Jason Kim and others.
Clements currently serves as a writer and co-executive producer on the third season of the series to cut On Apple TV. Along with Netflix unstableStarring Rob Lowe and Comedy Central WorkaholicsHis credits also include: Kevin was fucking himself, Ash vs. Evil Dead and Making history. He also co-hosted Hollywood guide Podcast with Hayes Davenport. Clements is repped by UTA and Ginsburg Daniels.
Simms is a multiple-time Emmy Award nominee and counts foreign currency What do we do in the shadows? and Atlanta Among his credits, along with News Radio (Who created him) The Larry Sanders Show and girls. He is repped by CAA and Ziffren Brittenham.
