House of the Dragon Season 3 has generated anticipation for its release. With just days left for the premiere, fans are gearing up for the battle of a lifetime as the season is expected to be more violent and bloody than the first two seasons.
Prior to its release, there were many changes to the overall cast members. Here’s what we know so far about who’s returning, who’s leaving, and who will make their debut this season.
They are all returning for the third season of House of the Dragon
Many beloved cast members are returning for Season 3 of House of the Dragon. This includes Emma Darcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, Via Saban as Helena Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Tom Glynn Carney as Aegon II, and Fabian Frankel as Ser Creston Cole.Other returnees include Sonoya Mizuno as Misaria, Rhys Ifans as Ser Otho Hightower, Harry Collett as Prince Jaquery “Jace” Velaryon, Bethany Antonia as Lady Baella Targaryen, Phoebe Campbell as Lady Rayna Targaryen, Jefferson Hall as twins Lord Jason Lannister and Ser Tyland Lannister, Matthew Needham as Lord Larys Strong, and Tom Bennett in The role of Ulf White and Kieran. Bew as Hugh Hammer, Kurt Ejiawan as Grand Maester Orwyle, Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull.
Who will all leave the “House of the Dragon” before the third season
Many of them will not be returning for House of the Dragon season 3. One of them is Rhaenys Targaryen, played by Eve Best. She died in Episode 4 of Season 2, meaning her story in this timeline is over. Ser Erryk and Ser Arryk Cargyll, played by real-life twins Elliott Tittensor and Luke Tittensor, will also not be returning as their characters were killed off in the second episode of last season. Finally, Jaehaerys Targaryen, played by Jude Rock, will also not appear in Season 3, as he was killed off in the Season 2 premiere.Simon Russell Beale joined the cast as Sir Simon Strong last season, but was left out of the official cast list for season three, indicating that he will not be reprising his role. In addition, Tom Taylor played Lord Kerrigan Stark in season two, but was not included in season three.
New joiners for the third season of House of the Dragon
Pearl Clarke is one of the new additions to the third season of House of the Dragon. She will replace Lulu Parker in the role of Princess Jaehaera Targaryen.
With a time jump, Jaehaera was a young child last season, and will be 10 years old in the third season.Annie Shapiro has joined the cast as Alisan Blackwood, along with Barry Sloane as Ser Adrian Redfort, Joplin Septin as John “The Bold” Roxton, Tommy Flanagan as Ser Rodrik Dustin, Dan Fogler as Ser Turin Manderly, and James Norton as Ormond Hightower.When and where to watch House of the Dragon season 3?The final season will be released on June 21, 2026 globally on HBO and Max.
