Asha Bhosle, the legendary diva of Indian cinema, passed away on April 12, 2026, in Mumbai. She was 92 years old. Tributes quickly poured in for the music icon from all sides. Amidst this, Sonam Salve, who was late singer Asha Bhosle’s house help for over 40 years, remembered the late playback singer as a respected being who respected “a poor woman like her”.

In an interview with IANS, Sonam Salve said, “I used to work in her (Asha Bhosle) house, and her behavior was very good. She had a lot of respect for a poor woman like me who lives in a slum.”Speaking about the singer’s unfortunate death, she noted: “When we learned that she (Asha Bhosle) was admitted to British Candy Hospital, we were very worried. Today’s news saddens us greatly.”She also spoke about Asha Bhosle’s nature of staying grounded despite achieving high levels of success as a singer.
“She visited my village. She never refused to leave me when I needed her,” Sonam Salve said.Mourning the singer’s death, Salve stated that she only received the news on Sunday morning. She said: “I have been at home for the past eight days. I learned of her death this morning, and I felt very sad.”

Meanwhile, Pushpa Navar, who worked and resided in late singer Lata Mangeshkar’s house, expressed, “I used to work with Lata Didi and live in her house.
After her death, she stopped working. Asha Didi was very nice.”Mourning the death of Asha Bhosle, she said: “I am deeply saddened by her death. I have no words to express this sadness. All the sisters were very kind. They treated me like family and gave me a lot of love.”

Dr. Pratit Samdani, who was treating the legendary artist, said that she died due to multiple organ failure. He said while speaking to the media outside the hospital.Asha Bhosle’s last rites will be held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on April 13, 2026 at 4 pm. Before that, people can pay their respects to the late music icon at her residence in Casa Grande Building in Lower Parel from 11 am onwards. She will be buried with full state honors.
