Every part of this story is horror.
In early 2021, two young teens became parents.
Logan Kruckenberg Anderson took the newborn into the snow-covered woods and ended her life.
He was convicted of an unthinkable murder. Now he has received a life sentence.

Every part of this is very annoying
In 2021, Logan Krukenberg Anderson is 16 years old.
When an unnamed 14-year-old gave birth to his newborn daughter on January 5 of that year, the teens knew they weren’t ready to become parents.
According to investigators, Kruckenberg-Anderson told his then-girlfriend that he was taking their child, Harper, to a better home.
(Apparently his story was that he found someone on Snapchat who could help with the adoption process.)
Four days after the birth, he took the baby in a backpack and walked with him into the forest.
According to reports, Kruckenberg-Anderson placed his 4-day-old daughter, Harper, inside a fallen tree in the woods.
The alleged plan was for her to die from exposure to the extreme cold.
(It is believed that this was only Kruckenberg-Anderson’s plan, with no one else having any knowledge of it.)
However, he heard her crying, and chose something that might have seemed, in a twisted way, less cruel to him at the time.
Authorities say Kruckenberg-Anderson shot his newborn twice in the head, ending her life.

But Harper’s maternal grandfather called the police when he learned that the child’s father had taken her from home.
When authorities first questioned the teens, Krukenberg-Anderson insisted that Harper had been taken to an adoption agency by an anonymous Snapchat friend.
(Snapchat is fairly anonymous and posts on it are fleeting. That must have made this story seem plausible to a 16-year-old. But it didn’t work.)
Eventually, Kruckenberg-Anderson relented and led police to Harper’s body.
No one believes 14-year-old Harper’s mother knew about his plans. No charges were brought against her.
Anderson was convicted of first-degree murder and concealment of the body of a child.
In March 2026, 21-year-old Krukenberg Anderson received a life sentence.
Charged with first-degree murder, he will be eligible for extended probation in 45 years.
He was sentenced to 4 years in prison for hiding his child’s body, followed by 3 years of extended supervision.
These sentences are concurrent. Thus, unless the murder conviction is completely invalidated, the other is moot.

Such atrocities are preventable
As a community, we need to ensure that access to safe adoption is universal.
Nobody likes the idea of someone dumping A newborn baby in a safe place without responsibility. But it’s better than killing children.
On the other hand, access to comprehensive sexual education and contraception should also be universal. Everyone should have a choice before pregnancy, before giving birth.
no Teenagers need to become parents.
Although we may sound controversial, we would very much prefer that no teenagers turn into murderers either. Harper wasn’t the only life cut short in this story, she was the most innocent.
