On Thursday, we reported the sad news that Kris Jenner’s mother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, had passed away at the age of 91.
The beloved matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner clan appeared on several of the family’s reality shows over the years, and her death was widely mourned across social media.
But not by Kim Kardashian.

No, instead of the expected tribute post, Kim’s Instagram page featured a collection of photos of her enjoying a lakeside vacation with the family.
The post was simply titled “Lake life” and did not mention Mary Jo.
Not surprisingly, Kim received some backlash from fans who wondered why she didn’t care about her grandmother’s death.
“Didn’t your grandmother just die? This can’t wait until the end of the week?” one follower wrote (via Us Weekly).
Another added: “I’m so confused.”
“Someone’s publicist is getting fired,” a third commenter commented.
Others were more sympathetic, noting that Kim’s position was clearly planned long before MJ’s death.
“Do you really think she would intentionally post this at the same time as her grandmother’s death? It’s clearly a scheduled post. Take control,” one such user wrote.
Kim later confirmed that this version of events was accurate.
“This post was scheduled to be published a few days before we lost MJ, so it was timed to coincide with her passing,” she wrote in the comments.
“I’ve been by my mom and grandmother’s side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family now. We love and miss her terribly, and in the days ahead, we’ll focus on celebrating her beautiful life.”
Clearly, this was a case of a minor mix-up on social media, and we’re sure Kim’s grief for her beloved grandmother is real.
It is known that she and MJ enjoyed a very close relationship, and for now, Kim will likely focus on being there for Kris, who has now lost his parents.
Our condolences to the entire Kardashian-Jenner family at this extremely difficult time.
