The late James Van Der Beek plays a powerful priest who lives a secret life in the movie trailer Portals.
Lionsgate releases John Burr’s thriller in theaters March 13. Mason Gooding, Algie Smith, Keith Powers and Brad Leland make up the cast of the film, which revealed its first footage on Wednesday, a week after Van Der Beek died at the age of 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer.
Portals The film revolves around three friends who witness a murder while driving through a gated community. When residents grow suspicious, the three friends find themselves in a battle for survival as the evil church leader (Van Der Beek) targets them.
“We were just trying to get by, and we saw something, and now this psycho is after us,” Gooding says in the trailer.
Later, Van Der Beek declared: “I have been called to lead this society, and these boys seek to destroy us.” “I’ve seen what happens when people get in my way,” he adds.

Fans have offered financial support following Van Der Beek’s death, with a GoFundMe account set up to help wife Kimberly and their six children raising more than $2.6 million.
