The film is currently embroiled in disputes over intellectual property rights and casting decisions, which have significantly delayed its progress.A major lawsuit has reportedly been filed by Seven Arts International in the Madras High Court, claiming that producer Firoz Nadiadwala does not own the rights to the franchise.
