Actor Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohail Khatoria have officially ended their marriage after the Bandra Family Court granted them divorce on March 11, bringing their four-year relationship to an end.
This development continued to attract public attention, sparking reactions from people associated with the family. Amid the constant talk of divorce, Hansika’s estranged sister-in-law, Nancy James, urged people not to involve her in the matter. Nancy, who is currently separated from Prashant Motwani, Hansika’s brother, said she has received a barrage of calls, messages and social media tags asking her to comment on the divorce.Speaking to Hindustan Times, Nancy said that the situation has become overwhelming and she prefers to stay away from controversy.
Hansika Motwani shares her first post after her divorce from Sohail Khatoria
“After Hansika’s divorce, I started receiving a lot of calls and messages commenting on the development. On social media too, I started receiving a lot of DMs and tags and people started this karma for Hansika. I am really fed up. Honestly, I don’t want to interfere in anyone else’s life.”
My divorce is ongoing. I am on a healing journey. She said: “I was receiving calls and messages to comment. I was fed up so I wrote the message in the stories.”Nancy’s relationship with the Motwane family has been tense for some time. In December 2024, she filed an FIR against Hansika and actor Jyoti Motwani’s mother under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 498A (dowry-related cruelty), Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and Section 352 (criminal intimidation and voluntary insult). In her complaint, Nancy alleged domestic violence and claimed that it was stress that led to her developing Bell’s Palsy. She also accused her in-laws of demanding expensive gifts and money, and alleged that the interference of Hansika and her mother created problems in her marriage with Prashant Motwani. Nancy also claimed that she was pressured to sell her apartment. In February last year, Hansika and Jyoti were granted anticipatory bail by the Mumbai Sessions Court.
Two months later, in April, they approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the FIR. In her petition, Hansika stated that she was shocked to find her name included in the complaint.Reflecting on her legal battle, Nancy said: “I was harassed and tortured by this family and I don’t want to be associated with them anymore. So I’m filing for divorce and filed a domestic violence case against my husband, his sister and his mother.
I hope my divorce will put an end to this ordeal. “I am still suffering and on a healing journey.”Nancy also clarified that she does not want to comment further on Hansika’s divorce or the speculations circulating online.“I have full confidence in the judiciary and the legal system in our country,” she said before ending the conversation. “Justice will prevail and once the case reaches its logical conclusion, I will speak at length, but for now, I do not want to be drawn into her case, her karma, or anything else.”Meanwhile, Hansika Motwani and Sohail Khatoria’s divorce was officially confirmed earlier this month by the actor’s lawyer, Adnan Shaikh, who shared an update with NDTV.
