GV Prakash reveals why he didn't get paid for Ken Karunas' 'Youth';

GV Prakash revealed that he was not paid any fee for composing music for Ken Karunas’ film ‘Youth’. He cited his strong friendship with Karunas as the reason for the gesture. Music composer and actor GV Prakash Kumar recently revealed why he composed music for the film ‘Youth’ without getting paid. He spoke about this during a promotional interview for his latest film, “Happy Raj”, which was released recently.

The film stars GV Prakash alongside Sri Gauri Priya and is directed by debutant director Maria Raja Elanchijian. During the interview in Hyderabad, GV Prakash was asked about his work in Youth, a film directed by and starring Ken Karunas. In response to the question, he explained that his decision was based on friendship and personal respect, not financial gain.

Speaking about the reason, GV Prakash said that his close friendship with Ken Karunas influenced his casting, reported Cinema Vikatan.

“The reason I decided to work in this film without getting paid is because of Karunas. He has acted in my film ‘Darling’ and we have a good friendship,” he said. He also expressed his appreciation to Karunas and his wife, Grace, for their kindness. He added: “Karunas and his wife Grace are very good people. Because of the affection and respect I have for them, I wrote the music for the song ‘Youth’ without asking for money.”

According to him, sometimes personal relationships are more important than money in the film industry.

GV Prakash also shared that the team faced difficulties in selling the audio rights of the film. Due to the presence of a newcomer in the lead role of the film, many audio recording companies were not willing to buy the songs at a good price. “Since the film had a first-time actor, the audio companies wanted to buy the songs for a very low amount,” he explained. Since the team had already spent a lot on music production, GV Prakash decided to start his own music label. “I launched my own label and released the songs myself.

Later, when the songs became a hit, the same companies offered five times more money.
