Popular reality TV presenter Graham Norton has just scored a major legal win, according to the latest reports. Norton was involved in a major case against a series of deepfake posts about his family that were circulating on a popular social media platform.

According to the Irish Independent, the reality TV star was recently involved in a legal battle with a social media platform. The case is set up to ensure that the platform reveals the identities of account users who spread false claims about him and his family’s health online. Norton is seeking documents from the social media platform to determine who runs the Westminster Wire page.Describing the posts as “extremely disturbing”, Norton won the case and will soon receive identity details of those running the account. In addition, he plans to file a claim in the High Court of England against the individuals who manage the above-mentioned account.

Which Graham Norton posts are causing the problem?

In recent months, these “deeply disturbing” posts have been circulating about the Bandon resident, his family and their health. Deepfake technology was reportedly used in several of these posts claiming Norton is seriously ill.

Several other publications falsely claimed that his 94-year-old mother, who was healthy and alive, had died. A statement issued by Norton, during his visit to the court in California to hear the case, said: “My 94-year-old mother uses Facebook and has encountered reports of her death.”In addition, many of his family members, friends, fans and co-workers have seen such posts, causing deep concern for everyone. Norton has had to spend time debunking fake news being spread online about him and his family on multiple occasions.

The posts mainly targeted the ill health of her husband and his mother as well.Another statement read: “In order to file a lawsuit, I must first identify those responsible. Without this information, I cannot file my claim or obtain the judicial relief I urgently need to stop the ongoing harassment.”According to court filings, Norton was targeted by the anonymous account multiple times using artificial intelligence and deepfake technology.
