Takashi Yamazaki has already made his way through the Japanese film industry with his 2023 feature film Godzilla minus one It was a huge success at the box office and won an Academy Award.
Now he continues his journey west to Hollywood No For 20th Century Studios, a film that will reunite him with Ridley Scott’s banner Scott Free.
The logic line is buried deep in the ocean, but it’s an original concept that Yamazaki had been thinking about for years.
Yamazaki entered the world stage with Godzilla minus onewhich is set in post-World War II Japan and centers around a disgraced suicide pilot who must redeem himself when Godzilla attacks his country. Produced for just $10 million, it grossed $116 million worldwide, winning an Academy Award for Visual Effects, with Yamazaki among the winners. The director has already filmed the second part, Godzilla minus zeroAs Godzilla heads to New York. GKIDS will release the follow-up theatrically on November 6. He also has a Sony/Bad Robot feature Grandger Dated 2028.

No Continuing Twenty’s decades-long relationship with Scott, who directed the ’70s film Alien For the studio, whose Scott Free sign has long been a first-look deal there. Scott is also a long-time collaborator of 20th Century President Steve Asbell, with the duo first working together on the 2005 film. Kingdom of Heaven.

Scott will produce alongside Michael Bruce. Also producing are Keiichiro Moriya and Go Abe of Robot Communications; Toho Tombo Georgina Pope; And Emi Horiuchi. Scott Aversano will oversee the 20th.
