Actor Michael Patrick, known for his appearance in the popular series “Game of Thrones”, has died. He was 35 years old. News of his death comes after a long battle with motor neurone disease.
He was reportedly diagnosed with the disease in February 2023. According to TMZ, the disease is a progressive condition that affects nerve cells responsible for basic functions such as breathing, swallowing, speaking, and movement.
Michael Patrick’s wife pays tribute
According to latest reports, news of his death was confirmed by his wife, Naomi Sheehan, who shared an emotional tribute on Instagram on Wednesday. Sharing a photo from their wedding day, Naomi wrote: “Last night, Mick sadly passed away in a care home in Northern Ireland.
He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease on February 1, 2023. He was admitted to hospital 10 days ago and was cared for by the amazing team there. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
““Words cannot describe how broken our hearts are,” she wrote in an emotional tribute. “It has been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was lucky enough to connect with him, not just in the last few years during his illness but every day of his life.
He lived a life as full as any human being could live. Joy, abundance of spirit, and contagious laughter. Giant ginger haired man. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past few years.

Friends of Michael Patrick are raising money for a tracheostomy treatment
In November 2025, his friend came together to start a Go Fund Me page to support his care and medical needs after his tracheostomy. “To give him the best chance of benefiting from this breakthrough, Michael’s doctors are recommending a tracheostomy. This is a small tube in the front of his neck that will help him breathe with his weakened muscles and allow him to continue to survive,” the post read.

The difficult part is that a tracheostomy comes with new and highly specialized care needs. His doctors advise that, especially in the early stages, he will need ongoing, skilled support to keep his airway safe and help him adapt to this big change.The cost was estimated at around £100,000 to help support Michael’s new care needs. The campaign was a success, with his family raising more than £110,487. In addition to his role on Game of Thrones, Patrick has appeared in several television projects, including Blue Lights and This Town.
