On Wednesday, Netflix announced the second season of the series The four seasons It will premiere on May 28. The streamer also revealed first look photos of returning cast members Tina Fey, Colman Domingo, Will Forte, Marco Calvani, Kerry Kinney Silver and Erika Henningsen.
Co-created by Faye, Lang Fisher, and Tracy Wigfield, the series is an adaptation of Alan Alda’s 1981 comedy about baby boomers navigating midlife crises. Season 2 will consist of eight episodes and will once again follow a group of friends across four vacations throughout the year.
At the Emmy FYC event in May, Fey shared how the writers began planning the new season. “It was really cool, we have the same writing staff and it was really interesting to come together and share experiences, not only talking about the previous season but also about our own lives,” Faye said. “The writers have been very generous – a lot of what you saw in the first season, a lot of it is from the movie obviously, but a lot of it also came from all of our lives.”
Without the original film serving as a blueprint this time around, the team is “kind of starting from scratch,” Fey added.
