Apple TV has greenlighted a comedy series starring Elizabeth Banks as a recently divorced woman — but the show will go beyond that basic premise.

The currently untitled series comes from creators Lise Heldens (Will Trent(And Matt Ward)The best medicine) and Disney TV twentieth. Here’s the tagline: “After her messy divorce, Heidi (Banks) sets out to secure a colorful second act for herself and her children. But when she gets stuck coordinating sex dates for her father’s retirement community, Heidi is forced into an unlikely alliance with her girlfriend’s always-only son.” Filming is scheduled to begin later this year in Los Angeles.

Without researching every line from sitcoms of the recent past, THR Pretty sure almost none of them contain the phrase “retirement community sex dates.” The show will join Apple TV’s comedy lineup that includes Studio, Ted Lasso, Contraction, Platonic and It sticksamong other things.

Banks, currently starring The mini wife At Peacock, she will also produce the series through Brownstone Productions. Heldens and Ward will serve as showrunners and executive produce with Max Handelman and Brownstone’s Chrissie Wall; Experimental director Jonathan Krisel (FX’s Adults); Quinn Haberman of Heldens’ Selfish Mermaid Banner; and Jason Weiner and John Radler of Small Dog Picture Company.

Banks’ television credits also include Prime Video The best sister, holo Mrs. America And the repeated parts on Modern family and 30 Rock; She received Emmy nominations for her work in the latter two. She has also been nominated for an Emmy Award for hosting the game show on ABC Press your luck.
