The stars will be out in full force to help the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) celebrate its 60th edition in its 80th year this year. Dustin Hoffman, Juliette Binoche and legendary cinematographer Robert Richardson will receive this year’s Crystal Globe Awards for outstanding artistic contributions to world cinema, while Jeffrey Wright will be honored with the KVIFF President’s Award.

For its double anniversary, which runs from July 3-11, the Czech festival also previously booked Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jesse Eisenberg as President’s Award winners.

“At the opening ceremony of this year’s 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Crystal Globe Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema will be presented to legendary actor Dustin Hoffman, winner of two Academy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and numerous other awards,” KVIFF organizers said Tuesday. “Besides honoring Dustin Hoffman with the Crystal Globe Award, the Karlovy Vary Film Festival will also screen his breakthrough film. The film earned Nichols an Academy Award for Best Director, was nominated for Academy Awards in six other categories, and also received five Golden Globe Awards and five BAFTA Awards.

At the closing ceremony, KVIFF will honor French star Binoche, “winner of an Oscar, a César and four European Film Awards.” In her honour, the festival will also screen films Certified copy (2010), Three colors: blue (1993) and the final documentary In I am in motion (2025) which I directed.

The third Crystal Globe Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema will be given “to world-renowned cinematographer Robert Richardson, a three-time Oscar winner and recipient of an additional seven Academy Award nominations,” the festival said on Tuesday. “While at the festival, Richardson will join director Jana Hojdova in presenting the documentary Robert Richardson: The White Devil“.

Known for his close collaboration with directors such as Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, he is “one of the most respected cinematographers of the last four decades and one of the few people alive to have won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography three times”, specifically for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. While revealing the tribute to Wright, KVIFF called him “one of the most versatile artists of his generation,” adding, “He has received Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, as well as an Academy Award nomination.” In his honor, the festival will screen the film Basquiat (1996), “which he presented in person at the 32nd Karlovy Vary”, as part of this year’s programme.
