Are you ready for “lemon 2028” grass signs?
Don Lemon says he’s considering a run for president, and would do a much better job than Donald Trump.
Former CNN anchor V Pod Save America Podcast that he could become commander in chief.
“That’s how I think ever [running for office]?” Lemon pondered. “Yes. Could it happen? Yes, it can happen, if the right opportunity arises. I know people will think I’m crazy. This will be the headline, and people will laugh at it: I think I could be president of the United States. “I can certainly run this country better than Donald Trump.”
“Why wouldn’t I think about running for office?” The 60-year-old continued. “Why can’t I think about becoming president of the United States? Did anyone think that Barack Obama – he says, ‘this guy with the funny name, from a mixed background’ – would become president? I have no ambition to be president. But I think I can run this country much better than Donald Trump… One of my mentors will say: ‘Why do you want to take a pay cut?’ But for me it’s not about the money.”
Lemon also spoke about the downsides of such a move. “Why should I face this kind of criticism? I don’t want to ruin my life with people searching everything about me and campaign ads.” [airing] Everything I said before sounded controversial – but I don’t even think people would care. I never said I’d grab anyone by the pussy, did I? But also, I’m not a white man, and the rules are different for me. And so, I think, unfortunately, the rules are different for women.
Lemon also weighed in on CBS News’ loss of ratings attraction in the wake of Barry Weiss’s editorial takeover of the division.
“They have lost their core audience,” he said. “I’m not surprised they’re getting lower ratings because people want the truth now. They want people to stand up to power. They don’t want a false equivalence. They don’t want people to come in just to lie. They don’t want people to be booked into shows just to fight. There’s nothing productive about that. Some things are objectively bad, and a lot of what the Donald Trump administration is doing is objectively bad — not just for people, but for the country and for democracy. People want that to be reflected in the news…if CNN goes NN is on the same path as CBS, it would take a miracle to get out of it.”
