According to a DNA report, during one of Diljit Dosanjh’s recent sold-out performances, some audience members were seen raising flags in an apparent protest against the singer. While the exact reason has not been officially confirmed, many netizens pointed out that the anger stemmed from Diljit’s appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ at a time when Punjab was suffering from catastrophic floods, with some feeling that he should have gone home instead.Diljit did not ignore the demonstration. He addressed the protesters directly, in Punjabi, explaining that he participated in the American talk show not to promote his music or films, but to bring national and international attention to Punjab, something he said the mainstream Indian media consistently fails to do.

Addressing the audience, he said: “We love Punjab. Whatever platform I go to, I always talk about Punjab. I have always said that the national media does not talk about us.”
