Jaden Smith opens a Free vegetarian restaurant For the homeless
Smith officially opened a non-profit restaurant called “I Love You” in one of the largest homeless settlement areas in Los Angeles. The singer even created a dedicated website for the initiative, where she revealed more details about how and why it works the way it does. The initiative began on the singer’s 21st birthday in 2019. The restaurant operates a food truck and provides free meals to all the homeless in the area on Skid Row.
On the initiative’s website, it was also shared that they are offering free Smith’s own brand water and even donating clothes to those in need. The initiative was highlighted again, shortly after Jaden shared a video in which he expressed his desire for the initiative to go beyond just a food truck. He stated in the video that he would like there to be a proper building in the Skin Row area, where people can come and have their meals in peace.
Jaden Smith’s Restaurant has a “pay it forward” policy.
Another factor about the initiative is that anyone can come and eat from the food truck.
For the homeless, food is completely free; However, if you want to eat from there, you can pay for the meal. With a ‘pay it forward’ facility, the meal you pay for will cover the next person’s food. Not only that, Smith’s initiative also promotes good, healthy meals. On the official website, it was shared that “Our founder, Jaden Smith, believes everyone deserves access to healthy food options, regardless of their financial situation.
So the menu was created in collaboration with our world-class chef and co-founder, Tabitha Lieber, to bring this vision to life. Before that, Jaden also started his own water company, offering more sustainable and eco-friendly packaging as an alternative to regular plastic bottles. Not only that, but through his organization, he helped create a mobile filtration device in Flint, Michigan when the water crisis reached its peak in 2019.
