'Dhurandhar Raw and Undekha' will release on May 22; Netizens Mistake Post As Early OTT Release Of 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' In India

When director Aditya Dhar asked Indian fans to count down the days until the OTT release of his film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, the official Netflix India handle on Thursday shared the poster of ‘Dhurandhar Raw and Undekha’ and announced its OTT release on May 22.

Dhurandhar Raw and Undekha will release on May 22

‘Andi aa rahi hai. Aur is bar, extra ghatak. Watch Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha, out May 22 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Netflix, they captioned the post.

Fans interacted with the post

It was not long before the post created a frenzy among the audience as many assumed that the makers had brought forward the release date of the sequel ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge: Raw and Undekha’ in India which was announced for its India release on JioHotstar on June 4, followed by its release on Netflix India on June 19.

Amid the hype that the release of Part 2 has been pushed forward for almost a month, netizens took to the comments section to clarify: “People in India are not too excited, this is an uncensored version of Part 1.

Following confusion over the post and subsequent clarification, fans took to the comments to say: “Finally, hopefully the uncensored, uncut version.” Another quipped: “Finally we can hear Akshaye Khanna’s Ghali.”

CBFC criticized for censoring ‘Dhurandhar’

This update comes at a time when the CBFC and the filmmakers were facing criticism for censoring the film in India, while allowing an “uncut” and “uncensored” version to be shown in foreign countries. One tweeted: “A film made for Indians, but the censored version is only for Indians – while the rest of the world watches Raw & Undekha. It really protects us from our own cinema.”‘Dhurandhar’ starring Ranveer Singh in the lead premiered on Netflix on January 30, 2026 after collecting a record Rs 1,300 crore at the box office.
