'Dhurandhar 2' vs 'Toxic' struggle: Sanjay Gupta feels both films will eat each other's work, recalls 'Kaabil' and 'Raees' struggle, Huma Qureshi is optimistic

The clash between ‘Dhurandhar 2’ starring Ranveer Singh and ‘Toxic’ starring Yash has been creating buzz for months. It’s been the talk of the town for a while now. Both pricey releases are scheduled to hit theaters on March 19 over the weekend, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated showdowns of the year.Actress Huma Qureshi, who plays a pivotal role in the film Toxic, recently shared her thoughts on the encounter. “No matter what I say, I think no matter how I look at it, it’s a win-win for the Indian film industry and it’s going to be great for the audience. It’s a win-win, the way I look at it I think it’s just going to be a great time for the film audience, and there’s room for everyone to do good,” she said in an interview with Variety India magazine.

Did you know Durandar: Revenge? Is the sequel’s runtime shorter than the first film?

But director Sanjay Gupta offered a more cautious perspective. He told the same newspaper, based on his own experience: “I will watch both films, but unfortunately, they both come together, because they are highly anticipated. They will eat each other’s works.” Referring to his 2017 film Kaabil, which clashed with Raees, Gupta explained: “It’s as if my film Kaabil released with Raees.

Both films would have benefited if they had been released individually and not clashed. Because we have to take into account that we are not a super-rich country, and our people don’t have money flowing so that they can just go and watch two movies in a row. There are many people who cannot watch two movies in one month.

It’s unnecessary, but then again, the filmmakers may have their reasons.” While he believes both the upcoming films will do well, he noted that neither of them can fully realize their standalone box office potential due to the clash.Dhurandhar 2 is directed by Aditya Dhar. The film continues the story of ‘Dhurandhar’ and concludes the two-part series.Meanwhile, ‘Toxic’ has been written by Yash and Jeetu Engineer, and Engineer has also directed the project. The film was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, and will be dubbed into several Indian languages. Besides Yash and Huma Qureshi, the cast includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles.
